Challenges identified include the lack of accessible platforms that make waste management easy and engaging, and the struggle individuals face in finding effective ways to dispose of waste, especially e-waste and plastics. Another challenge is motivating community participation in environmental actions

User-Centric Design

GreenGuard addresses these challenges by offering an intuitive platform that simplifies waste disposal and motivates users through community-driven challenges. By connecting individuals with vendors for proper waste management and offering resources such as eco-tips and tutorials, the app encourages collective environmental action



Meeting User Needs

The app is designed around the needs of users aged 24 to 60, focusing on both individual and community impact. With features like personalized waste disposal options, progress tracking, and eco-friendly challenges, GreenGuard ensures an engaging and interactive user experience. The design system uses a clean, approachable interface with clear typography and eco-inspired colors​



Feedback

Feedback highlighted the app’s strength in offering community challenges and gamification to motivate users, but more can be done to enhance engagement. Suggestions for improvement include expanding the educational content, integrating more social interaction features, and providing additional rewards for long-term users. Future iterations could also explore adding a social media component where users can share their eco-friendly habits and achievements
